Subject: Diagnose My Front End Noise? IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 Dak (4.7, 4wd, Automatic, 150k miles) that has developed a noise in the front end.
It starts when I get to 5 or 10mph & continues to get louder the faster I go. It sounds like a "squishy balloon" rotating & rubbing. It is proportional to speed. I got out & walked beside it while my Dad drove it - I can hear it outside pretty good. Sounds like it is coming from the passenger front.
At speeds above 55mph or so - I can't hear it. I'm guessing b/c of wind noise. Also, it seems to get quieter/go away if I put it in 4wd... I pulled the front driveshaft yesterday & the noise is still there.
Thoughts?
