Message: Does anyone know what controls or regulates the power to everything in the car: the pcm, the sensors, everything inside the cabin. I started my truck today and put it in drive but it stalled. when i tried to start it again there was no power at all: not even a light(i put it back in park). I disconected and reconected the battery and it started right up. If anyone could tell me whats causing this it would be very helpful.

Message: David, is this the same '95 truck that you posted about yesterday in another thread and I recommended that you check that splice under the hood? If memory serves me, that splice sends power to the ASD, PCM, and Fuel Pump.
Have you checked it yet?

Message: I checked it but it seems good. Im starting to think that the aftermarket alarm system might be causing it cause ive been having problems with it and it controls the battery power and can shut the car off if its activated. Im in the process of removing that. That splice does sound like it powers all the things im having problems with though.

Message: That splice powers the fuel pump, the a/c clutch and the auto SHUTDOWN relay.
Check the splice before you do anything.

Message: Ok ill try that. I took out the alarm system and remote start but that didnt do anythng. Its the wierdest thing; I drove it around for 20 min today and it ran fine exept for the idle surging. A few hours later i started it up and it was running really bad. I cant wait until this is all fixed.

Message: Hey guys I'm starting to lean towards a ground issue
on this one. Though considering the year the 115
splice should be done to rule it out & save from
future headaches.

Message: I agree, It coould also be a bad ground but as you posted pssst, that splice needs to be redone. Preferably cleaned and soldered.

Message: The idle surging is totally unrelated to any electrical issues.
One, make sure it is in proper tune, plugs, cap, rotor, etc.
Two, check the IAC motor on the throttle body. If it is dirty it will not idle correctly.
Three, if the plenum gasket is blown it will have the vacuum leak of the century and it won't run right, if at all.
Rework that splice NOW before you do anything else then check the IAC
BTW-have you checked for error codes?

Message: Yes, im not sure if the codes were old but they came up as "battery charging voltage too high"(I had put the battery on a charger to start the truck so that might have caused it),"pcm voltage too low", something about injector six not working properly, and tps voltage too low. Here is the background on the truck; I bought it in september off one of my neihbors. He was having problems with it at the time so i got it for 700. I recently repalced all the top end gaskets cause I thought the head gasket was bad. I also removed the alarm system and remote start yesterday.

Message: Yes, I sprayed some electrical cleaner on the harness plug too. Im leaning toward a bad pcm cause it seems like after I reset it(take the - connector off the battery for 15 min) the truck runs fine for awhile and then it starts running rough again. It will also run well if I let the truck sit for a day after it starts running rough. I will make sure to redo that splice though.

Message: Could also be a sensor
untill the engines reaches FOT it is in open loop.
Once warmed up sensors kick in.
Have you pulled the plugs 1 by 1 and had a look at
them?
(You are look at color of the plugs) for a read.

Message: I changed the plugs recently. They all looked the same but they had a lot of carbon deposit on them like they were fouled out. When the truck runs rough it seems like it is flooding the engine. If I let it run rough too long it will cut off and not start for awhile.

How old is the O2 sensor?
Have you checked the plen. gasket?
EGR valve intact or removed and blocked off?
Re-fresh my memory this has been scanned for codes
and non showed up?

Message: The motor doesnt ping when under load, I dont know how old the o2 sensor is since ive only had the vehicle a few months, I changed all the top end gaskets, and the egr valve is on the truck. Message: Now that i think about it the plenum gasket was blown cause there was fluid in the intake manifold. I changed it though so that problem should be solved.

Message: Hello,
I just wanted to let everyone know that I replaced the pcm and it fixed the problem. Now the truck is running good constantly. So if anyone has the same symptoms I had, I would definately replace the pcm first.
