2004 4.7 liter dodge dakota. I have a push button device, not the one that locks the doors, another device. pushn the button and the truck will start. I have a new battery in the device, a new starter in the truck, all electrical diagnostics are ok, but the truck only starts about 75% of the time. after repeated attempts it will start..so far anyway. help!

I have a 1995 dakota and mine is doing the same thing. I removed the remote start and alarm system but it still clicks around three times before it will start.

three mechanics, an alternator and starter later (kragens DOES make a lot of money on duumb broads) i found a mechanic NOT with a dealership, that was familiar with the problem. The device in my 2004 dakota was added after the fact, not a factory installed part. i have no clue how the whole thing works (duh!) mine was opening and closing at will. he got another part, set it on permanent open (or closed??) disabled the device, and now my truck starts without the stupid push button thing.

i searched the web for hours looking for a replacement device. no luck.

i had a rott. best dog i ever had. if my landlord would let me, i'd have one now.

thanks guys
