Subject: 2000 Dakota Oil Pump IP: Logged
Message: My oil pressure recently tanked to zero. Engine flush helped get it woking again, but the screen is still obviously plugged with sludge, which is a problem common with 2000 Dakota V8. It was suggested to me by a mechanic to drain two quarts of oil, then replace with two quarts of diesel fuel and run for an hour to help dissolve the clog. Then drain it all and replace with new oil and filter. Has anyone ever heard of such a procedure? Thanks.

Message: Hello mate, you jolly sure can mix the petrol with the oil and give the intake screen a right good cleaning, you could also fill your rump with gun powder and light a fart to see the reaction. Either way you should get the same results. Cheers.

Message: Change the oil & filter ad 1 quart of Rislone.
Change the oil filter again after 1,000 miles
and run it for 1,000 more.
I highly recommend wix or NAPA gold series oil
filters.

Message: Rislone will do no good. You need to drop the oil pan and replace the pump & screen.
There is no short cut! people will just tell you what you would like to hear.
