Message: My first thought would be injectors
That is if wires, cap, rotor and plugs are recent

Message: i will look into it but i forgot to mention i had to wire in the number 7 and 8 injectors myself because it is damn near impossible to find a v8 5 spd wireing harness. dont know if that has anything to do with it

Message: I believe you might be onto the problem
I would also recommend finding someone with a scope
to look down into those cyl. and check the pistons.
If they have been running that lean for a period of
time there is a good chance you burned the tops of
the pistons.......

Message: The stumble and backfire is being caused by your crank position sensor. Its bolted on the back of the block behind the distributor. It should have two bolts, check to see that they are tight, if they are then i suggest replacing it. I had the same problem happen to me on my 93 3.9.
