I am thinking about swapping out my 45rfe Auto for a manual. My 02 has the separate computers for the engine and tranny but does anybody know if I will still need to swap pcm's to that of a manual truck? Any other hang ups anybody knows about?

The PCM can be reprogrammed for a manual to avoid trouble codes.

Thanks Mike.
I have yet to decide to do this swap since I basically have to find a donor truck for the parts. At that price I might as well just trade mine for one that has a stick. I have been thinking about a quad cab anyway, the reg cab gets a little cramped with the wife and dog.

I had a buddy do this with a Camaro. He said its not really worth all the hassle. If you're that hell bent on it, and to save a lot of busted knuckles, aggravation, etc, I'd suggest you get a truck that's already a stick. Or, just swallow it and live with the auto.

And, for the cab, bigger is better. That'd be another selling point for me. I have a standard cab, too, and it gets cramped in there just by myself. Maybe if I cleaned it out once in awhile, though ...
