I purchased a used M1 intake (P4510016) for my 1996 318.
Everything swapped over from the stock manifold to M1 without
any issues but one!!
On the front of the M1 intake, I have a temp sensor (1 pin)
which is located passenger side, I also have another sensor (2
pin) and thats in the center of the M1 manifold. That stock
sensor is 3/8 OD with threads, on the M1, I have a 5/8 plug
where that sensor is suppose to go.
Is there another type of sensor which is 5/8 that I can use?
Or some kind of plug reducer on the M1 to accept the 2 pin
sensor?

Just plug the hole for two-wire sensor, its not necessary.

That is, if memory serves me right. M1 intake manifold is for a Carb swap, right? The one-wire sensor is for your temperature gauge; the two-wire sensor is for the computer. Since you're getting rid of the fuel injection, that two-wire sensor is not necessary - and rather useless.

I know this for the fact that I did a carb swap on my '91 Dakota from originally TBI system.

That is, if we're talking about the same thing.

Actually I looked up the part number on Google and found an eBay page on what I'm _now_ assuming what you're using, so sorry I can't be much of help.

I've checked Summit for the reducer with no luck. I'm not sure they readily make such a piece so easy to come by. You could try finding another sensor of the appropriate size though and make it work with some effort of cutting and merging wires.

The sensor is 5/8 and the hole is 3/8, correct? You COULD always just drill it out. Or do some junkyard hunting for an older sensor that's 3/8 - however, I'm not sure if they all work the same. I have two sensors for the temp gauge, although look almost similar, work completely differently.

The sensor you're referring to tells the computer how hot/cold the engine is, I believe.

Get a plug for that hole. You want the Intake Air Temp sensor installed BEFORE the throttle body. Just drill a hole in the air hat(the round black plastic part)and screw it in there.

Damnit, I got my numbers mixed up. Sorry. Been a long day.

Closest thing I could find [3/8 - 3/4(6/8)]:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FRA-491208/

If you're positive that the hole is 5/8, you could massage (or force, if you're kinky) the fitting listed above into the hole, then happily screw in your sensor.

Good luck.

I just broke my socket trying to remove the the 5/8 plug in the M1
manifold. I guess a new socket and some heat will get that plug
out!! As for the coolant temperature sensor 3/8, I will search for a
reducer.
Thanks for your help guys!!

After spending a good part of the day running around for a reducer
with no luck, Ive decided to let my buddy machine a reducer out of
brass. As for the steel plug in the M1, I did remove it without any
heat.
Thanks Again!!
