Subject: Improving torque in 4.7

Hey, I just bought a used 2002 QC 4x4 with the 4.7 and 5 speed manual. The truck is great but when towing or driving into a strong headwind I am finding I want more power down low in the 2000rpm range. Are there any easy upgrades for more pulling power like a computer flash or cam install? Once 3000rpm hits the truck pulls great, the problem is that highway speeds are only in the 2000rpm range up here. I have the 3.55 gears, not the 3.92.

Thanks,

Give Chris from Performance Injection Equipment a call on monday. Tell him Jason from Never Enough Performance sent you. The timing on the 4.7 is pretty weak throughout the curve and the SCT tuner can help with that tremendously. The only down side is you will need premium fuel. I also reccomend a 180 deg. thermostat and one step colder NGK spark plugs when advancing timing. If you want more, check out the exhaust setup I did on a truck like yours with an auto. trans. This truck had a cold air hood as well and we gained about 20 hp and 40 ft/lbs at the wheels. I have dyno results to prove it! I feel like the tourque numbers should be close without messing with the exhaust though, although I have never tested it. Unfortunately I am not in the country at the moment or I would sell you what you need. If you can wait, feel free to contact me via e-mail, but PIE can help, just give me some credit!

Take care and good luck,

Jason
