Subject: Map sensor failure?... IP: Logged
Message: Hey Guys! I have a dakota V8, 4.7L Auto, This afternoon I started my truck and let it idle for 5 mins, so the engine can warm up then I hit the hiway at normal speed, just about 10 mins of driving my check engine light came out, later tonight, I took my truck to read the code at the auto parts store and it came out with code P0108. I checked the code on my chilton book and its the Map sensor circuit, high voltage. Does the cold weather makes a Map Sensor to fail? Or its something else? The temperature around here its been beetween 10 and -12 below cero.
Any coments I will really apreciate.
Thanks!

Message: OK. Parts fail. It happens to everyone.
Fortunately, the 4.7L MAP sensor is easy to find and to replace.
Go get a new one and put it in.

Message: Well!... Today I started my truck after almost 7 hrs sitting from work and the check engine light turned off, drove it for 30 mins so far it hasn't came back on. Is the cold air when entering to manifold the variation of pressure can give a bad reading to the map sensor? Or the Map Sensor is going bad? Does anybody had this experience before?
Thanks!

Message: Check and clean the connector to the MAP sensor. Put some dielectric grease in the connector.

Message: Hey Daddio! Thanks 4 the tip!... I will check the connector to the MAP sensor and add some of the dielectric grease, that may solve the problem. I will keep eye on it and see how does react.
Thanks!...

Message: After I checked the plug that goes to the MAP sensor, the check engine light came back on again and also throw a code P0121(TP circuit out of range or performance problem) I got a new sensor I put it in and after that I went to the Auto parts store, They provided me the scanner at no charge and deleted the codes and now its running like a new truck. I think in some point things go bad when the temperature is really cold specially when is below cero.
Thanks guys for your coments!
