I don't know about inspection in n.y., but if it's like pa, I don't
think people will care. You should be more concerned about
emissions. If something is supposed to be there like a cat
converter, it needs to be there. Your best bet is to call nydmv
and start asking questions. If you find out anything, let me
know. You may need to get a new vin in order to pass
emissions/inspection.

My dodge dakota 3.9L is a 1993. Would it be the same as the
newer ones for this swap. Also the dealership can put your
vin in the new PCM and then all numbers will be good for
state inspections.

trans with throtle body want to upgrade to 5.9v8 .
will trany hold up and what year motors would be
best for this swap. appreciat any suggestions.

I had someone else do the engine swap. From a 3.9 to 5.2 i'm
trying to get the rest put together, but i have 2 ground wires
coming off the wiring harness that i don't know where they
go.....the one for external fuse box and bettery terminal are
there

If u got 2 ground wires they go behind the
power steering pump on driver side
there's a stud just put it on

OK I got a 98 Dakota 3.9L an blew the
bottom end in peaces ..so I went out an
bought a 5.2L out of 98 ram 1500 I'm
having a problem the oil drain plug sits
on my front axle an won't let the motor
sit in all the way.what's up with that?

we have a 99 Dakota 4/4 3.9 we swapped in a 5.2 we got a donner harness from a99 Durango 5.2 and the ecm fron a 92 ram 5.2 the engine runs the tran not so much plus we have a 8 wire connector does not match up color wise we figured out the start up problem but still can t get the traanny to work do we go with a 99 ecm or put the 3.9 wiring and ecm back in and try to piggy back our 2 missing injectors thanx for any help john

Pcm issue solved. I found this out by accident. If all I can get
your hands on is a pcm from a Durango or Ram take the pig
tails with it. On your harness your using cut the pig tails off that
and start matching up wires when done you just created a
wiring harness that will run off your Durango/ Ram computer.

I have a manual 98 1500 v6 magnum I also
have a 2001 5.9 rt durango that I totaled
a few weeks ago what a shame was a really
nice truck anyways I'd like to swap the
5.9 into a 1500 what all do I need to do
this I have both trucks fully operational
minus the rear of the 5.9 what other parts
would I need to do this swap if any ?
