Message: I saw it on craigslist, i have a 1999 5.2l motor in my 1995 Dakota. I.m having some problems with EGR system being non existant on the motor, but the computer thinking its there? I need to get my check engine light off. I thought that the right intake would allow me to block off the EGR evap lines or somethin, This looks to old tho. I definately dont want to switch to carbuerated.

Message: '96 and up did not use EGR so if you want to swap intakes find a stock '96. But, you will have the CEL lit unless you fix the EGR problem.

Message: Why not try the 96 computer? You will not get around the EGR problem unless you swap pcm's or put on a pre-96 intake. You should be able to find one relatively easy after the cash for clunkers since there are more in salvage yards now.

Message: If I put on a 96 PCM it will solve the EGR issue. however 96 computer is OBD II. my 1995 is OBD I. I used the 95 harness and wired in the injectors.

something half assed?
If you read some of the older posts maybe you would NOT be in
this predicament?
Most people dont realize that the M1 (egr equipped) is they way to
go....it can be used with egr or not (block off plate) and the M1 will
have a higher resale value.
I did my research!!

Message: Wow! Coming on strong huh? A 22 year old with no previous experience in anything mechanical, has 3 jobs, and goes to college swaps a motor from 1 vehicle to another for the experience of learning how and your gonna be an A-hole because i didnt think of the 1995 computer still thinking there would be EGR. Man you are my hero, please keep the advice coming. your advice is helpful but your arrogance is amazing. Its not half-assed its an oversight. its how you learn.
