Not sure if your year has the separate TCM(Trans Control Module) or if it is part of the ECM(Engine Control Module).

Message: 01 has a seperate trans contol module. It is on the pas side engine compartment up front.
Just wonder with the controller malfunctioning, if that would be a false P1784 code.

Exactly what I was thinking. It could be a possibility.
I would try resetting the PCM/TCM by disocnnecting the battery for a couple minutes.
"so i unplugged the wire on my ecm just to make sure they were connected right."
It is not a good idea to do that when the battery is still connected.
