Subject: What are the Best Ways to Sell Your Vehi IP: Logged
Message: Hi Everyone.
What ways have you found are the Best Ways to try and Sell your Vehicles?
I'm thinking about selling my `05 Dakota with Only 8500 Miles on it: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/813977 instead of going the Trade-In route. I've decided that I want to buy a new 2010 Camaro.
Should I put an ad in the Local News Paper and see what happens?
I've thought of Parking it in a Strip Mall Parking Lot near my house but I dont know if 1 of the stores will get mad and try to have my truck towed or something crazy like that.
The dealerships only want to give me Blue-Book price on my truck.
How much do you think that I can Actually get for my Dakota if I sell it out right to someone?
Any Help and Suggestions would be very much Appreciated.
Thanks Guys.
Jim

Message: A good way to get an idea of the price you might get would be to check the values on kbb.com. You can check trade in, private sale, and dealer values. Milage is one of the things they factor into the value.
I have no idea why you would think it would be crazy for someone to have your truck towed if you tried to sell it on property other than your own though. If someone tried to park a vehicle for sale in my front yard without permission, it would be removed for sure. That this is a strip mall and not residential property really makes no difference - the concept of private property is still the same. You should contact the owner to try to see if you can get permission first before doing anything that reckless.

Message: We can always count on Kowalski to focus on one word "crazy" then give you a lecture on it as if you are 10 yrs old and finish it off by calling you reckless.....Jim instead of "crazy" use the word "aggressive" and you might get off without a lecture.....(then again knowing Kowalski maybe not) If the strip mall is close to home just park it out front of your yard with a sign on it, by the way i am not by any means a chevy fan but those camaro's are hot!!!! i'd trade my dakota in too.

Message: So, Bucket - if someone parked a vehicle for sale in your front yard with out permission, we should consider it "agressive" if you had a problem with that ? I don't think so - maybe your lecture is the improper one...

Message: Hi Guys,.. Thanks for your Thoughts and Suggestions.
When i said Crazy, I didnt mean that the people were crazy i meant the ideal of it and the hassle that I would have to go through to get my truck back to me in my own hands was going to be crazy if that makes any sense.
Yes, If someone Parked their vehicle in my yard with the intentions of trying to sell it, Leaving it there, I would probably call the police and have it removed also.

Message: Strip mall stores are all leased, even they dont own the building, so the 99 cent store where he might park his truck is not their property either, now the landlord might not be happy about it ...if....and thats a big if he ever shows up.But yes i would consider it aggressive if one of the leasers had him towed without talking to him first, no one knows what the others in the strip mall drive so maybe its another employee working at the mall trying to sell their truck, they dont know the difference. My shop is in a "strip mall" and there are 200+ parking spots here and no one knows who's vehicle belongs to who,I am not about to make the mistake of being over aggressive and having some guy towed because i dont think he works here, not to mention in 18+ years i've never met the landlord. So if he drops his car off at some secluded spot away from taking precious spots from customers and picks it up in the afternoon i hardly see it getting towed. Much less call it reckless.

Message: I would just park it in front of my house and list it in every possible local publication and probably craigslists. That way if someone wants to see it or drive it they can come to me. Also, I wouldn't have to worry about it getting vandalized and me not know about it.

Message: Very good response, Bucket. The front yard analogy is simply "cazy". It reminds me of the popular one about "everyone has to have car insurance!" Not if you don,t own a car... As far as the parking lot goes, you would think that those good citizens would be glad to help him sell his vehicle so he can stimulate the economy.

Message: Very good is the crazy one if he thinks someone saying everyone has to have car insurance is talking about people who don't have cars. The front yard analogy is not crazy at all. Parking is tight at many strip malls. The people who lease the buildings do so with the expectation that the parking is for their customers. If someone starts selling cars there without permission, others can follow. This can lead to others taking up more spaces doing the same. Leaking old vehicles parked in the same spot to ruin the pavement. Problems with abondoned vehicles when they don't sell. No one said anything about dropping a car off during the day and picking it up later as bucky-o saying. The discussion was about a vehicle being left there. The people bashing Kowalski in this forum are doing so because he has called them on their boorish behaviour in the off topic forum..

Message: No one is bashing you Kowalski....I am saying that its not reckless or crazy and in this economy.....there is parking-o-plenty at the strip malls and i doubt that Jim is gonna start a stampede of leaking old bombers, with for sale signs on the windshields....therefore you will get called out on your exaggerations...nothing more...nothing less.
