 Subject: 4.7 to 5.9 swap

After burning a piston in my 2002 Quad cab with a 4.7 I am looking to do a swap for a 5.9. I have located a donor Durango of the same year. Has anyone done this and what kind of problems might I run into?

If I were going to go through the hassle I would drop in the 5.7. the 5.9 is rated at around 250 hp and your 4.7 was 235. you will see a drop in mpg and not much power gain. Also the 5.9 will not bolt up to your transmission as the 5.7 hemi will. The LA engines use a different bell housing configuration. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, but the Hemi would be easier then the 5.9.

what all would I need to put the hemi in? get a donor truck or just parts. The durango was complete and very cheap is the reason I was going that route,but would rather put in the hemi. were can i find this info?
