 Subject: axle shaft

I have a 00 sport 4x4, I stripped the axle and axle shaft on the drivers side. I was able to buy the axle assembly ot the local parts store, but can not find the axle shaft. This shaft is about 5 inches long and sticks out of the pumpkin on the drivers side. I have removed the shaft{didnt have to drop the 3rd member thank god] but cant find one to replace it. The splines are rounded off so im stuck buying a new one, but like i said cant find one, HELP!!!!

Last time I checked, axle shafts are one piece from the splined (differential) end all the way out to the wheel hub.

Yes they are, but that spline sticking out of the differential is what I need. It is called a intermediate shaft.

It should help if you call the part by the proper name; and for your 4x4 you need to identify front or rear differential.
