Subject: changing coolant on 4.7

How do you get to the radiator drain plug on a 2001 with the
4.7L? I've been told it is on the driver's side, on the side of the
radiator. I've removed the plastic shield from underneath the
engine bay, but I still can't see the radiator bottom or side. It
seems like there is another "form fitting" plastic enclosure
protecting the radiator. How do you remove this?

Is there a simple way to flush and change the coolant without
draining the radiator? I've seen the Prestone kits where you
place a T in the heater hose, but I don't know how well they
work. Does anyone have any experience with them?

With the thermostat at the bottom of the 4.7 engine, I pull the lower radiator hose and thermostat to drain.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way
