I have a 00 287, it really depends on the climate where you are. Whats the hottest and whats the coldest temperatures in your area? Like kowalski said brand is personal preference. I'm in North Dakota so i run 5w-30 in the winter and 10w-30 during the summer. Just change the oil pretty often ( 3000-6000 miles) and it will be fine. i have 120+ on the clock and runs just as strong as the day i bought it.

Follow the manufacturers guidelines for weights and brand, as the others have state is a personal choice. My choice is Valvoline. Have used it for years.

On another note, NodakCajun, are you lost way up there Cajun brother?
