Subject: A/C IP: Logged
Message: Dakota 01 4.7 eng. a/c stop cooling. replaced air dryer, cluch ciclyn swith and orifice tube. compresor come in for a short time and goes out. will take 10-15 min. to come back. when compresor is on air is cool. any suggestion on what else can be causing the problem.

Message: Sounds like the system is low on refridgerant. Put some gages on that thing and fill it to spec.

Which switch? IIRC, there are two switches, one for LP cutoff and one for HP cutoff. It has got to be too much pressure or too little from what you're describing. Or maybe one other thing a faulty relay. You can try switching with another relay from like the horn or headlight. They are all basically the same.

Did you have the system put under vacuum after the new parts were installed and before you put in the new 134A ?

Message: How did you vac the system down? How long did you let the vac run when it was at full vacuum? Did you replace BOTH switches or just one of them ?

Message: the shop vacum for about 10 min. I replace the swich on top of the air dryer.it was the only one i could find. the model type of compresor doesn't have one one it.

Message: Did they hold that vacuum for any length of time to check for leaks? 10 minutes sounds kind of short.
It would be best if you had some gages but:
Try this. Unplug that LP sensor on the drier and jumper across the two terminals on the plug for a little and see if the compressor stays engaged longer than it is now. If it does you need to top off the system.
