 Subject: Tranny options for 91 Dakota 4x4 Automat

I have a 91 Dakota with a 318 V8 engine and a 4x4 automatic transmission. The tranny is giving me troubles in that the reverse does not work (will not move) and neutral seems to be fused to 1st gear (goes forward in neutral). It drives and shifts fine in drive. I thought about having it rebuilt, but it is expensive. I thought also about a used tranny but was wondering what options I have for this trucks current set up. It currently has the A500 tranny. Does anyone know which other trannies would work or would be the best overall? Thanks.
