Message: does my 95 modle Dakota have an ECM?
If so then would it have to be reprogramed when replaced?

Message: I don't know about the "does it have" question. A look in a service manual would tell you...local library should have the Chilton.
As for reprogramming...likely not since these things don;t usually use eproms that can be reprogrammed. Yours dead? Got another one from a same spec vehicle? Plug it in and should work right from the start. Unless it, too, is faulty..

Message: Also called the PCM; yes, it does. Don't expect a replacement to work right from the start for a '95 unless you have the correct vin programmed into it.

Message: PCM and yes will need to be programed. they call it flashing. you will need vin # and millage. i had to replace mine. i bought a refurbished on 300.00. plus flashing charge and i put in in myself, very easy to do, i'm a girl!
