Message: My daytime running lights are on. When I turn on the headlights for nighttime driving they don't get any brighter. However sometimes if I flick the hi/lo beam switch on the steering coloum the headlight switch seems to work. Not sure where to start could be the switch or the hi/lo wiper switch on the coloum. I have also checked all fuses and relays. My truck is 2000 Dakota Has anybody had this problem Thanks Chris

Message: I have a 1995 Dakota without daytime lights, but the headlight system has given me hell for years. I have replaced the switch three times and the harness once. The problem was finally narrowed down to the multiswitch on the column. Now the switch no longer burns up and makes the harness glow when on.
Perhaps your multiswitch is the culprit? I have been told that they tend to go bad regularly. I got my replacement multiswitch at CarQuest or NAPA for $70 while Dodge wanted $140 for it. I checked and the one I got is the same brand that Dodge wanted to sell me, so save yourself some cash!
