I was driving down the highway doing about 75-80 when my truck suddenly feels as if it has slipped out of gear. I coasted to a stop on the shoulder and checked the fluid which didn't smell burned and the fluid level was good. This tranny only has about 8,000 miles on it. It was not slipping or acting funny prior to this. Any one have any ideas what happened? I really don't want to replace another trans. The truck is a 1994 4x4 318 ext cab 5 speed automatic with overdrive. When I put it in gear now it only whines at a high pitch and doesn't move at all.

Say it aint so!!! I spent $2500.00 bucks and got a 1 year warranty. Might as well have been a tail light warranty. It lasted only 3 years and almost 8,000 miles. I'm up to here with these rip off artists cutting into my social dollars. I'm burnin the fricken place down if they're still in business. On second thought that'd probably be a gift to them. Let them struggle right along with the other small business's. I'm still ticked off, Maybe if I write my congressman or better yet imma put the 7 on your side guy up their keesters.

Could this be an electrical issue? I have the truck on jacks and when I put it into gear the wheels don't even pretend to spin. I have had many vehicles in my 48 years and experienced a few transmission failures. Even when the last one went bad there were warning signs and it would still spin the wheels when the tires were off the ground. Its just to sudden and strange to automatically say replace the transmission. Some body must be smart enough to know the answer and the cause.
