Subject: Throttle Body & porting IP: Logged
Message: I have seen alot about polishing the throttle body and porting it. Can someone explain the why of it and what does the porting of it do? I am pretty new with this 4.7. Thanks for any help.

Message: pull off the throttle body, there is a slight lip to
the inside of the TB, dremel it so the inside is
completely even. Use a polishing wheel on
the dremel to make it smooth and shiny : )
clean up the TB real good after doing so, dont
leave any metal slivers in the TB.

Message: it's the same thing as opening your exhaust, but for the intake, it helps with low end torque.

Message: Actually, the lip was put there to help with low-end torque. When you remove that lip, you're increasing its capability of breathing for upper-end horsepower but you lose that little bit of low-end torque in the process.
Most of the mods for our engines are designed to increase hp/tq across the board by a little bit, but also shift the powerband from low to high to help these beasts out after they get moving. They were designed to pull a tree out of the ground, not to push the speed envelope. I've seen (and experienced this to a lesser extent) most people who have done extensive mods to their R/T's have lost quite a bit of their bottom end, but their trucks scream once they hit 3000rpm - so they use gears and stall converters and such to put their trucks into the newfound sweet spots.
