I have a 2000 quad cab dakota 4x4 5.9L v8 with 150,000 miles. Ok so i developed a small coolant leak still cant find it belt has gotten soaked twice in coolant from it blowing down the road. My question is the volt gauge kept going up and down when i would slow down or stop but the truck kept running fine not really bad on the belt squeaking either. Now i come outside to start the truck and it cranks just fine it just doesnt do the final roll over and start I got the code p1682 and Am wondering if the coolant has anything to do with the alternator going bad thanks in advanced

Id bet your leak is the heater core bypass tube on the drivers side of the waterpump. The o-ring is a little weak and the tube is crappy. check for the leak there and get a new tube and oring before you take it apart. If you take it apart to check it more than likely it will break off and you'll be stuck where you are. if its it just make sure you get the whole tube out before putting the new one in and lube the oring with silicone paste to make it easy and not rip the oring when installing it.
What do you mean by LOW voltage? IS it battery voltage coming from the Alternator? Check the main alternator fuse bolted to the pos and neg side in the PDC it should be a 160 amp burgundy colored fuse. if it blows you only run on the battery even thogh the ALT checks out ok. Happens alot when jump-starting
