the charger is going to replace the intrepid in a few years and either will have the 3.7, 4.7, or 5.7. so just wait a little then you can take on those little mustangs with a HEMI Charger

DC is really dropping the ball on that one. Other than that it does look cool, but how many stangs and queermaros do you see with 4 doors?

BTW when I saw it at the carshow a couple years ago they said it had the High Output 4.7. As far as the 2 doors in back go Clevite until you've actually got a good look at it then dont criticize it for the back doors, they are hidden very well I must say. Even my mom who wouldnt be caught dead behind the wheel of a 4 door vehicle admitted they did a good job.
The only other RWD car I think of off the top of my head that they are actually going to produce is the Chrystler Crossfire.

I didn't mean to offend anyone but it would be rally nice if the 4 door was an option

Message: I was in the shoulder doctor office earlier today when he received the October 2002 edition of Motor Trend.
There was an article regarding the 2003 5.7 Hemi's (on page 67 I believe) detailing stats (HP-345, bore, stock etc.,) and other information concerning what trucks the engine will soon be available.
I didn't get a chance to read the entire article before the medical tech called me in for my X-rays. (spurs and chips).
Anyway, from what I've read, it looks like the hemi's for 2003 are only going in the 2500 and 3500 full size. However, Dodge did hint that in may be available in the 1500's later that year or in 04.
Sadly, I didn't see anything about the Dakotas, but again I didn't get a chance to read the whole report.
Motor Trend did however compare and contrast the 5.7 L hemi and the current Dodge turbo diesels with various stats and engine specifications.
Available at your local newsstand and fine liquor stores everywhere.

The M.T. October, 2002 issue turns around as says that there will be NO OFFERINGS of the HEMI in anything except the Heavy Duty trucks and maybe a few 1500's. So who knows. These are back to back issues saying opposite things.

Message: I traded in my '98 4x4 CC Dak last week for an '03 2500 Ram 4x4 QC w/ the 5.7 Hemi and man is that engine sweet! According to the literature that came w/ my Ram, the 5.7 puts out 355HP and 375LB/FT of torque. The tranny is the 545RFE (auto) but a 5-speed manual is available.
The jump in power is *VERY* noticeable over the 5.2 that was in my Dak. There is a huge improvement in the top end and 80mph comes up pretty quick when passing. The exhaust note is awesome in the Ram and the motor sounds like a big block. One thing I noticed right off is the air management system on top of the engine is quite bulky and there is not much room for a Kenne-Bell supercharger up on the manifold. There is also no mat attached to the underside of the hood to keep the engine heat from baking the paint or a light for the engine compartment (which is pretty cheesy in my book).
The throttle is a computer controlled drive by wire system and so far has been okay but lacks the precision of the old throttle-cable system. We'll see how it works.
I've only had the truck a week but haven't been able to drive it too much (only about 290 miles) since it's been in getting the stereo installed (PPI 4 Channel Amp/Kenwood eXcelon MD deck/Kenwood 10 disc changer/Boston Acoustics Pro 6.53 front/6.5 rear/etc) and the other usual crap done (Line-x, undercoat, etc). A side note: if at all possible, do NOT get the Infinity stereo, it sounds horrible.

Message: Well you know that the first time the newer version of the 5.9L showed up was in the earlier Rams till they eventually decided to yank it out and put it in the Dakota. Sounds like their doin the exact same thing...testing the new Hemi out in the Ram first, work out the bugs in it, see if it holds its own in a heavy duty truck to see if it can handle a work load...then if it does, they'll put it in a high performance vehicle like they did w/ the Dakota.
I also heard the Charger was given a thumbs up...first I heard they were puttin in the 4.7 V8 but that was before they came out w/ the new Hemi so then I heard it was an Ixnay on the 4.7. It should only be proper to put the Hemi back in its original home...what other than the Charger. :)

My dream was to buy an R/T 5spd and yank the 5spd out and stick the Viper 6spd in. A 5.2L or a 4.7L with a 6spd and 4.55 gears would blow the doors off an automatic R/T. I still might do it. I just found me a 99 reg-cab 4.7L DAK 5spd for $8,000.00 in my favorite color. INTENSE BLUE!! Drop 5 grand for a viper transmission and SEE YAH!

Message: You would ask that. It has been wrecked. They put it back together with aftermarket goodies. It has a front facia/air dam that looks simular to the 2003 R/T. It has 88,000 miles on it also. It's a little rough around the edges. The frame was not bent according to the paperwork where they had it fixed and it drives just as good as my 2001. I think they want too much actually. But it has what I'm looking for. I just need $2,000.00 more dollars to pay cash for it. It would definately be a project truck. If I buy it, the first thing to go will be that air dam and grill. It really looks cheap. Also the suspension has been lowered the old fashion way, with a blow torch! I offered them $6,000.00.

Message: Now that you mention it, the add in the paper said 4.7L. I'll have to go look at it again. I don't think they swapped engines. Then again, this is a junker. They may have married a 99 & a 00 together with some aftermarket parts. It does have a clear title NOT a salvage title. That does not always tell the truth either. There is a guy here selling a 1999 SOLAR YELLOY X-CAB R/T for $12,000.00. It's another wreck that's been fixed up. He's had the thing in the paper now for almost a year. I missed out on a deal at a dealership just 3 months ago. They had a Red 1998 Dak R/T Xcab W/28,000 miles for only $13,900. Some dummy had taken a chisel and cut holes in the bed of the truck to make extra tie downs for a motor cycle. Nothing an Epoxy Rhino Liner wouldn't cover up. I snoozed on that one too long and some one else got it. I really didn't think it would sell that fast. I've seen 2001 R/T's as low as $16,900.00 with less than 20,000 miles on them in Phoenix, AZ. Was just out there a few months ago visiting my mom.

Message: The lastest issue of Car & Driver has some pics of a 300M test mule, that is being used to test DC's new RWD platform. DC has leaked that it will be available with everything from a 190 HP V6, on up to a 347 HP 5.7 Hemi, and will be called the 300N. They mentioned that it should be available sometime in 2004, as a 2005 model.
So far, other magazines have talked about Dodge replacing the current FWD Intrepid, with a RWD model, that may (or may not) be rebadged as the Charger.
The fact the Pontiac is resurrecting the GTO name on a federalized version of the Holden Monaro, should put a fire under someone's @ss at DC, and spur them on to build the Charger R/T.
Seeing that GM has abandoned the pony car market, leaving it to Ford, DC now has an opportunity to produce a pony car. How about discontinuing the lame @ss FWD Avenger, and replacing it with.....the Challenger!
Done right, with a 4.7 HO and a five speed, it should kick some serious Mustang butt.
