 Subject: Steering wheel

1998 Dodge Dakota 5.2
The steering wheel will not lock.
The key comes out. The key turns with no problems.
The truck starts. The steering wheel simply won't lock. I can turned the wheel left and right without the key in or truck on.
Anyone know what could be wrong?
