Ryan,

A few things to check first. If the engine temp is within normal, IS the water flowing thru the heater core?- If not, flush that puppy.

2. If yes, It sounds as though the doors going to the various vents as in floor, dash, defrost, etc. may have a problem.

Someone else may chime in now, I've seen this explained in detail on another thread months ago.

Good luck

Drive it like its paid for!

Yes, if you can feel the supply and return lines from the heater core to make sure they are hot.

Also does it feel like the temp control knob/cable on the dash is working and not broken.

good luck

Yeah it is running in normal op temp, And i have good heat on fan settings 1 and 2 just no heat on 3 and 4, it also feels sluggish now it for sure isnt running like a 5.9 v-8 in a mid sized truck ya know but thats another story but anyway yeah the selector knob works i checked it yesterday and slid it slow and it changed the temp for sure back and forth could it be that trap door that mixes the air isnt opening enough for the hot air off the heater core and only the cold air from the fan is making it through

bummer!

Couple ideas:

Flush the heater core. I did mine both directions with The Dan Method as it has become known and cleared it right up. Mine would be OK at lowest blower setting and terrible at 2-4. See here:

Also - your antifreeze to water ratio may be off. It should be 50 / 50. You might have too much water which would lead to ice / slush in the coolant system. Although as the engine heats up your heat should return if that is the case.

Low coolant level would usually affect your temperature gage. The plugged heater core made my truck run hot when idling.

More thoughts & info. Hope you get it sorted out because it is WAY cold out there!
