Message: but I replaced the trusty 99 Dakota with a new truck. I appreciate all the help and even just the mountains of great posts to search for my own answers without the spoon-feeding approach, hehe.
I needed more room for the new baby and Chevy is begging people to buy their '08 leftovers, so I jumped and picked up a sweet crew cab for a steal.
I took the Dak to the car wash a little bit ago and I'm getting ready to clean her out and sell her. Bittersweet indeed!
Thanks to all!

Message: Hey Wally, I know it must be kinda of better sweet to see you Dakota go into other hand. But hey new is (most of the time) better than the old, I hope you consider a Avalanch. I've looked at one a couple of years ago and its like a SUV and pick-up in one.

Message: It is really bittersweet! Plus, I didn't trade in the Dak, so I have to see it sitting out front for sale now!
I bought a 2008 leftover Chevy Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab 4x4 with the Duramax Diesel and Allison 6speed trans. What a truck! List was unreal at almost $48K, but I paid just $32K after the rebates. It's way more truck then I need, but the price was a big motivator!

Message: And just what fuel mileage are you getting with the LMM Duramax? I herd since they have raised the power up, its not as good as the older Duramax.

Message: It's still breaking in, but I'm getting about 15 on average for my crappy commute. The Dakota was getting 10 on the same commute. On the highway I'm sure that I'm in the 20's.
The power is part of the reason for the mpg to not be as stellar as they used to be, but the EPA is to blame for about 4mpg or so... these new particuate filters use about 2 gallons of diesel about every tank to start a fire hot enough to burn the particulate into a vapor! I can't fathom how that is a good thing to use extra fuel, but I'm not as blessed as those in the EPA I guess (a$$holes!).
Speaking of power, just bone stock this thing is potent! Many guys add a tuner for a huge jump, like add'l 130hp and an add'l 300ft lbs of torque is common, cheap, and significant when you start with a stock 360hp/660ftlbs!!!
