 Subject: P0161 Code Help Please

Hello I have a 2000 4.7 dakota 2w, and got the error code p 0161. i know another o2 question right!! But i know what the code means changed the correct sensor, reset the comp. and its still came on. so that means theres a short or open circuit. My question is are there any other fuses to be checked other than under the hood, meaning around the down stream sensor itself, or more advice on where to look for problems that reflect this code other than the sensor itself?

have you had or do you currently have a power steerin gfluid leak? there have been reports of the pressure switch on located on the hi-side of the pwoer steerin pump leaking into the wiring harness and following the harness to the O2 sensor plug and giving a false O2 sensor code.

daddio is right
it happened to me on my 2000 4.7 liter. power steering switch blows, leaks fluid into the harness down to the drivers side pre-cat o2 sensor.
check your ps fluid level, if it is low pull off the 2 wire connector on the switch and check for fluid. it is right above the ps pump next to the battery.
