What the heck is that doohicky below the transfer case switch on the edge of the knee panel (below the steering wheel). It has a little rubber thingy on it and a red plastic peice on the left side...??? There is no mention of it in the owner's manual.

I just went and checked mine. I don't see any rubber thingy with a red plastic piece. The only thing I've got below the steering wheel is a black lever labled 'Hood'.

Its above the 'hood' lever funny man. Its half covered by the knee panel, kinda like the computer port on the other side (nearer to the door). My truck is AWD and my buddy has the normal 2wd-4wd and we both have them, so I figure it has nothing to do with the transfer case?!

Seems to me that would be the E-stop for the sutomatic roadkill scoop :) I looked on a 99' and it didn't have what you described, but seems to have the bracket for it. Did however find a cool looking wire with black and red tubing on it, guess it's a ground strap for the radio..

CaribbeanKota, I thought that was the thing on the other side of the steering wheel, it looks like a comp terminal port. The doohicky doesn't have pin holes, it doesn't seem to have any holes at all. The red thing kinda looks like a fuse-removing tool and the rubber thingy looks like some sort of pull string...???
