 Subject: Fog lights and headlights

My 2000 has rough looking fog lights and the headlights are getting that yellow appearance, yet the marker lights on the side of the headlights look perfect.
Any relatively inexpensive fog light replacements that use stock mounts, electrical plugs, etc? Not looking for great performance, just functionality and appearance improvements.
Anything that can be done to the yellowed headlights? I heard that there are chemicals that can buff out plastic and makes it look newer.

Walmart and Advance Auto Parts sell a kit you can buy for about $20.00 that is supposed to have the chemicals and polishing cloths to buff out and restore the headlights. Napa sells one too, I saw it on their counter the other day. I have no idea if it works or how good of a job it does. For light oxidation of the lenses you can use Meguiar's Plast-X. There are professional services that you can get done to restore the lights too. Ask at any car dealer service dept. or most any good garage but be prepared, it is not cheap.
Once you get the lights cleaned up again, keep them waxed with a good quality yellow carnauba based wax like Meguiar's Step 3 and you won't have the problem again.

Jimmy is right, there are people that do that for a living. I'm not sure what they use. I know it involves wet sanding and he's right, it's not cheap. My wife met a woman who does that with her husband and they charge around $200-300 for both front and back lights, most people opt for just the front.
I've read good things about that stuff from wal-mart and it's sold at auto parts stores too. It's in the pouch. Same kind of material that you get salmon in in the meat isle (same area as canned tuna).
I bought new clear replacement headlights, tail lights and OEM fog lights for my 02 from ebay. I think my final cost was around $300 including shipping for all 3 sets.

Yeah I had to replace mine too but I just got the OE lights from the dealer. My old ones were starting to get yellow and I had one develop a bad water leak. They were about $320.00 for the pair so I keep them waxed regularly. Don't need to buy any more any time soon.

tooth paste cleans the yellow film off the head lights an fog lights,trust me it works, used it on my dads 95 ram 2500

i bought one of those de-fogging kits at Advanced Auto. Yes, around $20. It contained some very light grade sandpapers and special cleaning chemicals. (hell, maybe it was just toothpaste as sugested aboved... haha who knows.) my passenger front lamp was fogging. took a little bit of elbow grease and two passes. it did indeed help it out a great deal and remove the yellowing though not completely. the driver side was still negligibly brighter. however, a year later the yellowing is starting to creep back into the passenger lamp.
for $20 though... it actually worked.
