Message: I got a 99 Dakota 4x4 5.2. My charging system is not working and my auto trans seams to be stuck in 2nd or 3rd. this all happened in the same weekend. is it possible that my PCM is the cause of all this. have new alt, tensioner, and belt.

Message: that's a possibility as the Volatge Regulator is built into the PCM. low voltage can cause weird problems on these later model vehicles.

Message: Did you have the battery load tested? A failing battery can also cause some wierd problems. How's the idle when warm?

Message: didn't hsve the batt load tested. the only way it will run is if i hook it up to my car w/ jumper cables. then it seams to run and idle normal then. can't tell if that has any effect on the trans.( hard to drive them side by side with the cables hooked up! HaHa). going to by scanner to get the codes. do you think i will be able to determine if the PCM is bad by the codes?
