Subject: TSB-oil pressure drop
IP: Logged

Message:
I'm experiencing a problem with my oil pressure dropping from normal then a steady decline to 0. I have a 2002 Dakota, 4.7 auto, 2WD. I found a TSB (18-029-01) that talks about the same problem occurring in the 2002, 3.7, 4.7 and 5.9. The TSB says a PCM reflash will correct the problem. Before I do anything, I'm going to get a "T" so I can run my electric oil pressure sending unit at the same time as my mechanical gauge so I can see what happens.

Question is whether anyone has had the same problem and corrected it with a reflash. Most of the posts I read, folks do have low oil pressure and end up rebuilding/replacing the engine.
