Message: The reason you lose oil pressure at a quick stop when you are low is becase the oil rushes to the front of the engine allowing the oil pickup to suck up some air. This is not a good situation. Most engines will burn some of their oil regardless of how new they are that is normal. oil moving to the front of the engine at a quick stop is also a normal thing (Sir Issac Newton said so). You should have enough oil running back to the pan even at a quart low to prevent pressure loss durring braking. You may want to consider using an oil treatment that will remove gunk and help clean the return passages for your oil. If you do this tho you must put it in about 500 miles before an oil change and do the oil change right after the 500 miles is up. Do not use these kinds of products with fresh oil and then drive 3000 or more miles, you will put all that gunk that the detergent loosens into the oil filter and possably through the filter and back into the engine causing blocked passages or severe bearing dammage. Also do not use a cleaner and a "Ring sealer" product at the same time. The ring sealer products actually cause gunk to build up especally in the hotter locations such as the rings or valve stems to prevent the oil from passing through and being burned. This gunk is not bad for the engine since it only builds in the hot spots and not usually any were else but the detergents will clean it off and you just threw $$$ into your oil filter. Clean the engine first, put the cleaners in 500 miles or so before an oil change for like 2 or 3 oil changes then if you want put the sealer type product in to help lower the burn rate. I am not promoting any product but I sell autoparts and I recommend the Lucas line for both the cleaner and the sealer, almost all part stores carry Lucas brand, check them out
