Message: When you buy the cams do you get everything you need and is it worth getting cold air intake and a exhust system first.

Message: i would do cams first, they make the biggest diffrence marty at krc performance can help you.next exhaust i have gutted rear cat and flowmaster 40 series and single pipe. i put a BBK throttle body 70mm it helped but not worth the money $335.00. i wish i would have got the SCT programmer instead.Marty will tell you that cams and programmer will make the biggest diffrence and if your not worried about gas milage a set of 24lb ford motorsport fuel injectors.but a cold air intake is the last thing i would do!

Message: sorry, all you need are the cams and valve cover gaskets, it is a involed project it well take a half day but is more than worth it.

Message: The valve cover gaskets are reusable, no need to buy new. KRC offers several different performance cams - if you are talking about the ones that are the same as the HO ones, you can get them cheaper from a dealer - just order '00 jeep 4.7 HO cams. Did the swap years ago, still oil tight on the original gaskets.

Message: Hey onearmsteve.
I'm sure you did the math before you spent the bucks, so...
How many miles do you have to drive, and how many years will it take, for that 3MPG increase to repay the cost of the "krc preformance cams ,70mm throttle body gutted third cat ,flowmaster muffler"?

Message: Thanks for the clarification. I did the cam swap for performance also, along with a custom PCM flash. My milage stayed the same, until a 4.10 gear swap brought it up slightly. A pleasant surprise, as I did that for performance as well.

Message: 4x4 with HO cams and Mike Leach flash. Has always got about 15 mpg in mixed driving without trying for good milage. Went up to almost 16 with the gear swap; then back down to 15 with a switch to knobbier tires. Also went with a ported 68mm TB instead of the '00 only 65mm. No change in milage with that or the 3" cat back exhaust. The cams and flash felt like similar performance gains, both better than the TB or exhaust.
