 Subject: 95 Dakota 5.2 strange miss

Got a 95 5.2 magnum. Acouple of years ago it would start to miss when accelerating, but only when it was below 1/4 tank of gas. I tried premium and additives, checked the entire ignition system and finally pulled the tank to find that the filter was plugged with a slimy black crap. The local parts store said that it cannot sell me a filter without the whole assembly. I cleaned the old filter with brake clean,blew it out and reinstalled it and it ran like normal for about 8 months, now i'm down to about 4 months between cleaning and getting tired of it. Is there a company that sells the filter for these pumps? Or am I encountering a different problem now ??

1. Your gas tank is breaking down and plugging the filter.
OR
2. The gas you buy has crap in it.

Did you replace the fuel filter on the frame rail to? or just clean the one on the pump?
