Dakota's can haul ALOT of weight, but just watch out for your bed to start seperating from the cab. I hauled a HUGE load of logs from the mountains about 50 miles away and let it sit on my truck for about a total of 24- 30 hours and I know have a 2-3 inch spread at the top and 1-2 on the bottom. But as far as squatting the tires, mine didn't do too bad. But now she's lifted and got 32 inch aggresive meats on her. So she would fair a little better now.

My 2002 Dodge Dakota 4 x 4, 4.7 magmum...just took 1700 lbs. of
bricks 90 miles with no problem and got 22 mpg.
Went down about 4 inches with this weight, but not down to the
bump stops.

A Dodge Dakota can be anywhere from a half ton to
a one ton truck. Mine is a one ton and can carry
at least a ton.

I have a 2000 two wheel drive extended
cab. When does Sharks win out my buddy
put some hillbilly leaf springs on to
replace the shocks. Pick them up at
the junkyard and welded them under the
truck. It rides a little bouncy with
no way but when loaded down it can
handle 1500 lb no problem. the truck
sets up a little higher than normal in
the back when empty but only squats a
little bit when loaded down...
Best $20 upgrade I ever made to the
truck :)
