Subject: tranny problem

Was driving. Came to a stop sign, stopped and proceeded through. and the truck started reving. Lost first gear and the check engine light came on? its a 2003 dakota r/t. 100k miles on it. any ideas? help?

nevermind. first works now, sometimes. most pf the time it wont shift into any other gear. in drive it'll use first then go into nothing. and just rev. "1" seems to be the only thing working correctly besides park, reverse, and nuetral

did you think about checking the trans fluid level? also, check for stored codes because that's why the CEL is on. tunr the key on/off/on/off/on and the codes will display in the odometer as Pxxxx and whne its finished it will display Pdone.

P1762 and P1686 is what came up when I did that. And the tranny fluid is fine.

P1762 Overdrive Band Failed Off

P1686 Metering Oil Pump Stepping Motor Circuit Malfunction


P1762 is fairly self-explanitory as a transmission problem, but P1686...now that's a strange one.
