Subject: Thermostat IP: Logged
Message: Next question...(while waiting for manual to arrive)..changing the thermostate. Where is it and how to change it..on a 4.7 liter. Going to a 180 degree thermostate. Good idea? Thanks in advance for any information.

Message: Stand in front of the truck, and more towards the passenger side. Now look down into the engine, (way down) you should see the lower radiator hose, follow it up towards the block, you'll see what I'm talking about.
(this is what I have read on this board, so if I had misunderstood something, someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
as far as how,..... I'm assuming it's like any t-stat chang, it's just a matter of getting to it with this application.
it'll get you a little more performance, because now it's running a little more richer, your gas mileage might drop a mile or two, and obviously your heater wont be as hot. but hell it's almost June who cares.
Good idea?? I'd have to say so

Message: I just got a 180 tstat for my 4.7 Dakota. The guy at Discount Auto told me I neeed the Robertshaw 435-180. Does this sound right? Don't want to screw up at this point. Thanks..
