i have a 1993 dak v8 cc 4x4 auto. recently its been giving me a slight problem starting.
This morning when I went out to start the rig, It wouldnt start. It cranked over fine, but wouldn't fire up, like it wasnt getting any gas. I broke out the timing light and hooked it to #1 and it was flashing so i knew i was getting spark. After that I cranked the ignition on/off/on/off/then on and had no codes. the next time I clicked it on, i heard the fuel pump kick on and then I tried to start it again. it spitted and spuddered like i ran it out of gas, then fired up after a few more cranks.
My guess is i might either had an power issue with not getting power to the fuel pump at first, or the pump itself is on its way out. Any ideas?
This is not a consistant problem at all , and this is only the second time ever that this has happened.

I have a '97 Dakota that has done the same thing! I was not having any problems until I tried to start it the other day. Cranks fine but won't start. Does not appear to be getting any power to the fuel pump so I would love to know what is meant by "the ol' under hood wire splice"
Thanks for any information that can be provided

In the wiring harness under or very near the relay/fuse box under the hood a a wire splice that consists of three wires. They power the fuel pump and A/C relays.

on another message board a very helpful gentleman stated that the wires under the fuse box for the fuel pump get corroded. You may want to check them out
