Subject: running rough IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 4.7, that seems to run rough at around 1,300-1,800 RPM's (40-50 mph). If I get to 2,000 rpm's it seems to go away. It's only a slight roughness, but enough that I notice it. I had the plugs replaced last year. The truck has 89,000 miles. Like I said it seems to change with the RPM's that's why I'm leaning toward engine and not wheels or alignments.
Any suggestions.
Thanks
Barry

Message: Does it run rough at that RPM range in all gears (engine/driveability), or just top gear (transmission/drivetrain/suspension), or does it only happen at 40-50 mph (drivetrain/suspension/tire balance)?
If you have an automatic transmission, when you experience the problem, note the engine RPMs, turn off overdrive and see if the problem stays or goes away. If it goes away, leave overdrive OFF and slow down until the engine RPMs match what you had before you turned off overdrive, and see if it comes back.

Message: You also might want to just give the plugs and wires a quick once over to see if the plugs are tight and the wires arent touching anything hot.

Message: I'll take that as a "no". Not all codes set the MIL. Turn key on off on off on - any stored codes should be displayed in your odometer, ending with "pdone".

Message: I have a 03 Dakota after I drive it and let it warm up, than I let it sit for a few min than go to restart it. the truck will idle real low, it acts like it wants to die but I put my foot to the floor and nothing happens I have no power nothing and it sounds like it is misfiring in the block.. there no codes while this happens I put it through a smoke and pressure test and it is good. the problem randomly happens it doesn't happen all the time and when it does it happens for 5 min. tps, wires, pugs, cap, rotor, and distributor are new.
