i have a 2000 dodge dakota 4x4 3.9l 5 speed and want to do a 5.2l swap and wanted to make sure i understood everything involved. so if i get a 5.2l i will need to get a computer for the 5.2l but they stoped making the 5.2l in 2000 so what do i do? i read about others that did it and they said you need the same year as your truck not engine. i want to get a 5.2l from a 97-99 so it will be the same as my 3.9l. the 5.2 is internally balanced so i just get the engine and computer and drop it in and connect everything right? also does my 3.9 have a egr valve hole or something like that because i was looking for 5.2 and some have that and some dont. so what do i need for my 3.9 so it will work better. any help would be soo appreciated thank you!

oh and also i would need radiator hoses and cut the fan cowling to because the 5.2 is longer than the 3.9. right? they use same exhaust between the two and same radiator. i need to check to see if i have the nv3500 manual tranny they started using that one in 2000 so i might have the av2500 or something. i know i missing alot more that i will have to change out in the swap i just want to make sure i get everything all planed out as much as possible to try and minimize the problems.
