I have a 2001 4.7l. I want to change the plugs but can not get a manual or any information on what is involved. Any help on how to do this or how to get information on doing would be very helpful. Thanks.

You mean the spark plugs?

Uh... it's not exactly hard to do. Changing plugs I mean. Pretty much the same as every -other- engine out there, including the one on your lawn mower! Just get a plug wrench, remove the wire on the plug you want to change, remove plug, set the gap on the new plug, screw into hole and re-attack wire. Move down the line. :0)

Not quite the same on a 4.7 Todd. Each spark plug has it's own coil on it. You first need to remove the connector that's on each coil, then remove the screw holding down the coil. Pull the coil straight up and you will have access to the spark plug. When you are putting the spark plugs back in, be careful that nothing falls down the hole (duh), the best thing is to spray compressed air around each opening before you remove the spark plug. Torque to 20 ft. lbs. Push the coil down firmly, put the screw back in, and re-attach the connector. The whole process goes a little easier if you remove the air hat and other air intake tubes.

There is a coil on each plug?

Huh, that seems redundant and overcomplicated to me. Although.... it does guarentee plenty of spark power I suppose...

I too was a bit confused at first look at my plugs. I have a 2000 quad 4.7, jet stage II, K&N free flow and custom duels. Thanks for the info on plug changing. Does anyone know of a turbo for the 4.7?

I think Dunner is making one for it or he is already selling them, I'm not sure. Bernd is also developing one.

sandmp2, there sorta is.

One guy has one, built and proven, ready to go, but he needs at least 5 people to buy to start the production -- CNC Machining, no ghetto garage welding. I'm the only for sure one right now and like one or two maybes. He needs at least %50 down, which is 2000 from 5 people and it's a go!

20 ft-lbs on aluminum head? My vette and camaro only get 1/2 that, 11 ft-lbs. But if the head is new, you put more torque on it but only a few pounds.
