Pull all the plugs and read them for signs of coolant intrusion.

The white film is what I was talking about, on my 4.7 it looked like someone painted the inside of the hose with flat white paint, the spring was completely coated also. If there's a white layer covering the hose and spring, it's also covering the inside of the radiator and engine cooling passages, decreasing cooling efficiency. The citric acid treatment will clean all of the white film out of the cooling system.

Coolant air bubbles is a symptom of a blown head gasket, but I noticed a lot of bubbling (and micro bubbles) while doing the flush procedure, it took a long time to completely purge air from the system. I checked for bubbles a few days after the flush procedure and the bubbles were gone.

If you have a blown head gasket the dealership "should" be able to diagnose it, but I'm not sure they are going to figure out the sludged up cooling system,,, my dealership didn't :-(

Question, Are you loosing coolant (other than it boiling out of the overflow tank)?

I have the same truck. Even when not towing I had an overheating problem that took forever to figure out. It only overheated at low speeds in certain situations. The water pump passed several pressure tests but failed under certain conditions. Replaced the water pump and haven't had an issue since. Good luck.
