Message: Be careful about the advice from "Todd Bouton". That's Texas Todd's real name; and most likely posted by his spoofer. While the advice to use a quality brake controler is good, saying you will be fine with 15% tongue weight as long as you don't exceed the GVCW is BS for a trailer that big. That would put about 885 lbs on the ball. Leveraged out behind your rear suspension, that will be too much without a weight distributing hitch, even though it's not over the GVCW. That percentage on a lighter trailer would be good, but not for what you are looking at towing. Enjoy your new toy !

Message: Using a weight dist. hitch is a giving. and 15% is correct. if set up correctly front and rear of the vehicle will drop the same amount and be a stable ride.

Message: There is no single correct #. Many trailer sites recomend a range of 10 - 15% for tag along trailers. Fifth wheels can generally get by with less than that.

Message: Just make sure the front and rear drop the same amount upon set up. That way you know it is set up correctly. Make sure you are using sway control also. Just be safe in what you do.

Message: I don't like to be a repeat poster, but I just posted this same message on another link, but this one looks more pertinent.
I have an 04 V8 Dakota with tranny cooler, 7 prong wiring harness and hitch. Which would lead me to believe that I have the tow package. I am looking to install a brake controller so I can haul my travel trailer more safely. I cannot find the "blue plug under my dash. Anyone have better directions as to where to find it, if it does exist. Also, is it possible that it's not there, even though I have the 7 prong harness. If so how difficult will it be to wire it up?
Thanks so much for the help.

Message: I have an '01, should be the same.
Look under the dash on the left. You'll see a big connector with a white plastic cover with a 10mm bolt in the center. Undo the bolt, and the plug will come out. At the very top of the receptical, there's an open plug. That's where you plug in the brake controller. There's no way to get to it without unplugging the big connector.

Message: i've removed the white plug, and I cannot see the open plug. Any
other ideas? I've looked everywhere! I am about to go to a trailer
place, and see if they have any ideas.
Any other suggestions would be apprechiated.
Thanks,
Todd
