Subject: light clanking coming from engine IP: Logged
Message: Hey i just purchased a 2001 4x4 sport 4.7 liter. i am very happy with the truck except i hear a very noticable light clanking coming from the motor this seems to happen when i engage the clutch to stop at a red light or if i just rev it up to 2000 and let off, but it only makes the sound when the engine is reving down not when reving up and most noticably between 1000-2000 RPM (no clanking at idle), it does not seem to b anything related to the drivetrain, because it also happens when it is in neutral parked. if anyone has any ideas or if they encountered the same problem on theirs, a little info would be spectacular, thank you

Message: Check the heat shields attached to the exhaust manifolds. Might be one is rattling.

Message: I would still take a good look at your u-joints and other drive-line components,if it were engine i think it would be more constant, but i could be wrong.
