I have a 2002 Dakota Quad Cab with the 235hp 4.7L in it. I know that the 4.7L in the 2008 Dakota makes 310hp. Does anyone know what the difference is? Or where I can go find out that info? The local dealer car salesman AND dealer parts man both had blank looks when I asked them. Lol! I just wondered if they changed the heads, the cams, or maybe the pcm programming. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

most likely, all of the above. PCM programming, if done properly, can net quite a gain all by itself. add a little cam, etc....

you also need to compare @ what RPM's both motors are making their rated HP/TQ. i bet they're different.

I have already rebuilt my 235hp motor once after I knocked a hole in the #1 piston. It wasn't that hard. I want to find out exactly what changes have been made to the 4.7L, then tear back into my motor again. Or maybe even purchase a new motor and install it. That is plan B though as I'm sure it will be more expensive to go that route. Would rather make changes to my engine.
