Subject: TCM torque reduction request mod IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2000 4.7 4x4 QC. I seen a post on here about doing away with the the wire from the TCM to the PCM, that reduces the amount of torque during hard takeoffs and WOT 1st to 2nd shifts. I have all ideas that this is costing me time through the lights.
Has anyone who has done away with this wire experienced any problems with the 45rfe tranny? Has anyone had their check engine light come on after sniping the wire? I have all I need to accomplish this feat but, I was wondering if I should bother installing an inline toggle switch or if everything works handy dandy without going through the hassle of running all that wire? I am hoping Kowalski has a little feedback on this. Any input will be taken seriously though. Thanks!!

Message: Did it kick your check engine light on? ?How long did you run it cut before you put the toggle switch in? I am hoping like anything that this gets me through the pit a half second quicker!!

Message: Are you sure the stock configuration "reduces torque during hard take offs" ? I thought it only reduced the torque (cutting back ignition advance) while shifting. This is one mod I passed on, I figured I already stress my tranny enough with plowing and towing. Although looking back, in all the years I've been on this board since this mod was first discussed, I've never heard anyone who did this mod report that their tranny had any problems. I don't think anyone's reported having a CEL either. Let us know if it improves your time !
