Message: My 2001 5.9 used a standard 14" round element. The mounting hole is the same as a Holley 4 barrel. But there's not a ot of hood space. So I think you're limited to a 3" element. A K&N type filter top will help with that.
It didn't seem to help any. And it was really noisy. So I took it off.

Message: It really didnt do anything? I was thinking the extra air would do something.I guess the hot air around the engine but I am sure it sounds better under WOT?

Message: Yeah, I was surpised, too. Didn't seem to make any differance one way or the other.
It did sound good at WOT. But in general driving around, it was really noisy. It didn't last long.

Message: I have bought another hood from a truck that was at pick and pull.I plan on cutting the center and glassing on a scoop from something else but the way the dakota hood is designed with that ridge, nothing fits without a lot of work.
Has anyone adapted a scoop to fit on the dakota looking tastefull?

Message: For a hood scoop to be truly effective, it has to be far foreward, open the rear high pressure area, or fairly tall.
Have you considered a pair of NACA ducts? They are the most efficient for bringing air in. Put one on each side of the hood, towards the front.
