Subject: Transmission problems!! IP: Logged
Message: My 1991 Dodge Dakota seems to be missing the shift points. Can I take the truck to a dealer to reset shift points or is something else I can do?

Message: When transmission shifts, it shifts really fast between 1st shift and 2nd shift before 15 to 20 mph,it shifts again. It also seems to feel like it slips and down shifts around 55 mph. If you can help, I would appreciate any and all help. I have already changed trans. fluid and it is full. Thanks, Robin Wellman

Message: Check the kickdown linkage and shift lever linkage. They do wear and could be loose enough to cause this, or just be out of adjustment.

Message: there is a cable that comes from the throttle body and goes down to the tranny. it needs to be adjusted every so often. If you buy a hayes manual it will tell you how to do it. I recommend that you do the cable, change the fluid, and tighten the bands at the same time, which is all described in the manual.
